Nothing Matter Exhibition

Nothing Matter is the meeting of minds between four UK-based artists, each interpreting materiality from distinct perspectives to explore concepts of memory, journey and space. For Charlotte Dawson and Paul Francis Bryan, familiar objects from their childhood bedrooms – a squidge of blue-tack or a scoobie keyring – are transformed into complex, versatile carriers of meaning. Meanwhile, Desmond Brett and Thomas Pether’s abstracted forms possess an autonomy that resists nostalgia or representation, instead antagonising the gallery space as a site for sculptural intrusion.

The exhibition can be found at The Shoe Factor, St Mary’s Works and runs from 30th July, 12 – 6pm daily. There will be artist talks on 11th August at 7pm, with more information to be announced soon.
