The work on display is a collection of paintings of individual trees and groups of trees that I have made over the last two years.
We all have a deep ancestral relationship with trees. They have they produced the wood that has made houses, ships, furniture, tools, musical instruments and even aeroplanes. And when we walk among woodlands and parks we can connect with these living beings and be uplifted by this connection.
Just as every human has their own character and presence in the world – worthy of being noticed and celebrated – so too do trees. We can experience this when we look closely and witness them.
Perhaps the most vauable thing we can do as individuals to contribute to restoring carbon balance on earth is to plant and nurture trees. Recognising and appreciating the unique character of individual trees may be an important step in this mission.”
